(Human) AI for complex supply chains
Supply chains are critical for complex systems, but face ever greater challenges. This project will develop and test a digital platform that combines simulation, optimisation and responsible artificial intelligence to support better decision-making.
Contact
Organisations must balance robustness, efficiency, environmental considerations and ethical assessments when making complex decisions. However, these factors are often addressed separately, making it difficult to understand trade-offs and identify opportunities across whole systems.
Doctoral project
This doctoral project will develop human-centred AI-based decision-support tools for the analysis and design of efficient and sustainable supply chains in complex industrial environments.
The PhD candidate will develop and validate a digital platform that combines simulation, optimisation and ethical AI to facilitate joint evaluation between humans and AI of trade-offs related to supply chains and product life cycles. Examples of application areas are robust supply chains in the defence sector, sustainable maritime logistics, flexible manufacturing and ethical public procurement.
A key objective is to integrate product and process requirements, robust logistics and sustainability into a single modelling framework, with particular emphasis on synergies between the defence, industrial, maritime and public sectors.
